Drying Cherries

Dried Cherries grown by Streich's Orchard in Hood River, OregonWash ripe cherries, cut them in half and remove stems and pits. Put the cherries on dehydrator trays, on a single layer. For best results position them skin side down.

Be careful not to overdry the cherries. They should be leathery and a little bit sticky when dried correctly.

Store the dried cherries in small plastic bags or containers in a cupboard or other dark, dry and cool place.

Use the dried cherries instead of raisins or dried cranberries in recipes – they’re great in cookies! – or for snacking.
